Frequently Asked Questions
If you do not see an answer to a question you may have, please send your questions through the contact form. (Found in the 'About Mrs. Bauer' tab.)
1. What does math look like in my child's classroom?
In general, the components of math instruction revolve around the district's four cornerstone's of math instruction: standards based, workshop model, common assessments, and differentiated instruction. Each teacher structures their math block around the district's workshop philosophy. Please contact your student's teacher directly for detailed information regarding specific components of their math workshop.
2. How can I monitor what my student accomplishes in Odyssey?
Parents have their own logins. Your password is the same as your student’s; your user name is your student’s username with the letter “P” in front of it, e.g. P10jdoe.
Or, while your student is logged on, you can view the 'student portfolio' to find activities he or she has completed. You can sort by daily, weekly, or monthly completion.

6. What are Unit Assessments?
Unit assessments are administered before and after the instruction is delivered. The pre-assessments are formative assessments. Formative means the test gives teachers information like what students know and what they do not know relating to the standards in which they are about to teach. The post assessments are summative. Summative means students have received instruction and would show mastery of the unit standards. Unit assessments are common documents used in all District 41 general education classrooms and are written to meet the rigor of the Common Core State Standards. If you have questions about your child’s assessments, please be sure to ask your child’s teacher or Lincoln’s Math Coach (Michelle Bauer, [email protected]).
